“Nearly a half of the adult population of Ukraine, according to statistics, is not interested in fiction. This was discussed during the presentation of Ukrainian social campaign to promote reading, Read a Book.
As the director of the State Library of Ukraine for Youth, Heorhiy Saprykin, noted, Ukraine has lost its status as one of the most reading countries in the world, and the people that lost interest in reading is on the verge of cultural degradation. “The Ukrainians should be an educated and developed nation. For this, we need to read a lot,” he stressed.”
There are small amount of books published in Ukrainian. The lot of books are in Russian language which is not good for raising of our national mind. Also fast development of web-technologies has an influence on reading real (paper) books.
Ukrainian language is one of the most beautiful in the world (3th place after Persian and Italian). Every newcomer schould learn more about it.
