Heat supplies have been cut off in some regions of Ukraine, because the state needs money for the national gas company Naftogaz Ukrainy to return 12.1 billion cubic meters of gas to the Swiss-registered gas trader RosUkrEnergo AG, according to leader of the Batkivschyna All-Ukrainian Union and former Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko.
“The thing is that it has been more than two months since Naftogaz… started paying money to the shadowy company RosUkrEnergo,” the former prime minister told journalists on Thursday before entering the Prosecutor General’s Office.
According to her, they are planning to give $3.7 billion to RosUkrEnergo. “$3.7 billion is just the amount of the increase in gas and heat rates for households. They have been withdrawing money from Naftogaz for the third month already, that is why they have taken such a tough approach to each region, to every person, and are literally extorting the payment for heat and gas at a higher rate,” Tymoshenko said.
The leader of the Batkivschyna Party said they would demand the authorities stop cutting off heat from regions.
“At present, I want to demand that the Ukrainian president stop cutting off heat in those regions that have fully paid for it, but due to the lack of balance in the state budget, are not making extra payments to the state, but to Mr. Firtash (co-owner of RosUkrEnergo Dmyro Firtash) and the RosUkrEnergo company and, among others to the hidden party of the money distribution – the president of Ukraine,” she said.
