State Museum of Theatre, Music and Cinema

It is situated on the territory of Kievo-Pecherska Lavra and is the only museum of its kind in the country. The collection was originally created in 1923 by actors of famous theatre “Berezil”. It belonged to the theatre and was made to get items that are related to the theatre of Ukraine. In 1960 old folk musical instruments were added to the collection of the museum. The oldest rarity was made in XVIII century. The collection contains 600 musical instruments which include unique violin of “Ukrainian Stradivari” Luka Maryanenko which was made in 1910 and some exotic instruments like wheel lyre, kozobas, simfonion. Among unusual exhibits there are puppet show “Vertep”, costumes of famous Ukrainian theatre actors, make up room of Maria Zankoveckaya in the museum.
