Serge Lifar international ballet competition kicks off in Ukraine

Serge Lifar International Ballet Competition was launched Sunday at the scene of Donetsk National Opera and Ballet Theatre named after Anatoliy Solovianenko (Donetsk, east of Ukraine). The creative forum of the world’s artists is patronized by the first lady, Liudmyla Yanukovych.

According to one of the organizers of the competition, its artistic director, People’s Artist of Ukraine Vadym Pysarev, the 7th International Competition of Ballet n.a. Serge Lifar gathered in Donetsk a record number of participants. 163 artists from 16 countries arrived there, including from Russia, Georgia, Belgium, United Arab Emirates, Italy, Japan, etc. The largest group of contestants, 95 men, represents Ukraine.
