The State Nuclear Regulatory Inspectorate of Ukraine has officially registered in Ukraine iodine-131 from the quake-hit Fukushima-1 NPP in Japan. On March 27, iodine-131 was detected in a microscopic lowest measured concentration, the chief inspector for nuclear and radiation safety Mykhailo Hashev told the press Wednesday.
According to him, Ukraine’s nuclear power plants operate in normal mode, radiological monitoring is carried out online, the level of gamma-radiation in Ukraine is not increased.
5 days ago, the Fukushima-1 iodine-131 was detected in the air in the U.S. and Canada. Three days ago – in France, Bulgaria, the Czech Republic and Finland. Last traces of radioactive isotopes of iodine-131 have been found in Glasgow, Scotland.
