Odessa State Literary Museum

Odessa State Literary Museum founded in 1984 is one of the biggest regional literary museums of the country. Its exposition includes 20 halls, each one of which is devoted to one decade. Exposition of the museum is a system of symbols and marks, in which real books, manuscripts, photos, newspapaers, personal possession are inserted. Each hall represents the atmosphere of the city in particular period of time. Museum represents over 300 writers, namely Kotlyarevskiy, Pushkin, Mickevich, Bell, Simonov, Pasternak. Museum is situated in the building constructed in XIX century. It used to be a palace of a representative of high society Dmitry Gagarin. It is located in the historical center of Odessa. In interior of the palace unusual combination of styles can be found: classicism, baroque, empire style. Next to the building of the museum there is an Italian patio where comic sculptural compositions devoted to the fiction characters are placed.
