In XIX century this house used to belong to the famous Odessa trader. It was one of the first hotels in the city, that’s why it was a place where Pushkin stayed for some time while visiting Odessa. Here he created poem “Gypsies”, 30 lyrical poems, 2 chapters of novel “Evgeniy Onegin”. In the museum visitors can see old engravings of Odessa, portraits of Pushkin’s contemporaries, unique autographs and pictures of Pushkin, his rare first publications. The street is also renamed into Pushkinskaya Street.
