This is the main museum of Ukraine devoted to Taras Shevchenko. Its collection includes original items connected with Shevchenko such as his original paintings, documents about his life and work, manuscripts of poems, rare photos, first publications of his books with his autographs. Exposition has almost all publications of his creations. The fund of the museum has more than 4 thousands of exhibits and occupies 24 halls. In the museum there are 800 original paintings, portraits, personal possessions of the poet, photocopies of manuscripts, documents. In the halls can be found pieces of work of famous artists, sculptures, writers and composers which are connected with Taras Shevchenko.
