Lvov Museum of Ukrainian Art

Collection of the museum covers development of Ukrainian art from XI to XVIII century. Exhibits include carved stone, metal, wood, bones, embroidery, painting, engraving, icon painting, sculpture, graphics, clayware. Some of them date back to the time of Kievan Rus. Collection of icons is one of the biggest and valuable in Ukraine. Exposition of the museum also represents art of decoration of books of XIV-XVIII century. Among old books there are publications “Apostol” of 1564 and 1573. Museum also presents a collection of portraits of artists of XVIII century, namely O.Bilyavskiy, I.Baranovskiy, L.Dolinskiy. Collection of painting, graphics and sculpture of XIX-XX century includes creations of almost all famous artists which lived on the territory of Ukraine in that period. One of the most valuable exhibits is “Self-portrait” of Taras Shevchenko.
