Lvov Museum of Art of Ukrainian Books

Museum was founded in 1976 and was situated in the building of Onufrievskiy monastery because creator of the first printed Ukrainian book worked there. Nowadays it moved to the building next to palace of Potockie. In front of the museum there is a monument to first typographers. Fund of the museum includes of 12 thousand of exhibits. Exposition consists of 4 halls and is devoted to the history of manuscript books and old printed books. It covers art of decorating the manuscripts, presents main centers of book printing. Among exhibits there are medieval manuscripts, old printed books (of Shvaipolt Fiol, Francisco Scorina), “Trebnik” of Petro Mogila, map of Galicia and Bukovina of XVIII century, books that were made in old typographies of Kiev and Lvov, typographic machines of XVII century.
