The 7th International Ballet Competition named after Serge Lifar to be held in Donetsk between March 27 and April 2 will be attended by 136 participants from 16 countries. This is a record number of entries in the history of the ballet forum, the press service of the competition reported.
Ukraine has the largest group of contestants (95 people). These are 12 students of dance schools and ballet schools, as well as seven leading artists of opera and ballet of Ukraine.
The prize pool for this year is the largest in the history of the competition – USD 110,000.
The current contest is taking place within a cultural project dedicated to the 120th anniversary of composer Sergei Prokofiev, who was born in the village of Sontsovka (now the village of Krasne in Donetsk region of Ukraine).
The founder of the International Ballet Competition named after Serge Lifar is the outstanding figure of the choreographic art Yuriy Stanishevsky. The competition is held once in two years.
