Kyiv develops tour itineraries for UEFA EURO 2012

Kyiv City State Administration has developed 13 special tour itineraries for visitors of the UEFA 2012 European Football Championship to be held in Poland and Ukraine, the press service of the KSCA reported.

Among the routes there are sightseeing tours of the city, including visits to Orthodox holy shrines of Kyiv Pechersk Lavra and St. Sophia Cathedral, built in the 11th century and apparently rebuilt at the turn of the 17th – 18th centuries in the Ukrainian Baroque style.

Tourists can also visit the Museum of Folk Architecture and Life of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, located in the open air on an area of 133.5 hectares near the village of Pyrohove.

Visitors will also be invited to tour the Andriivsky Uzviz (St. Andrew’s Descent) street museum, including to call at Saint Andrew’s Church and the sale exhibition of national creativity products in the open. Another route, Rus of Arts, will acquaint visitors with the museums of Kyiv.

Among other tours there are travels to the ancient city of Chernihiv, arboretum Sophievka in Uman, boat rides along the Dnieper. There is an opportunity of a day trip to Chernobyl, notorious in connection with the NPP accident in 1986.

Championship fans will also be invited to 134 current thematic city and suburban tour routes, including 74 hikes, in particular visits to 55 museums, as well as 54 bus (urban and suburban) and 6 boat routes.
