Kiev Fortress

Kiev Fortress is the biggest earth fortress in Europe and the second biggest in the world. Though it didn’t make any shots, half of the city was forced to move because of its building. It was constructed in XVIII-XIX century and made Kiev one of the most defensive towns in the Russian Empire. The museum devoted to the history of the fortress as a defensive structure and political prison is situated in the fortress. Another museum on the territory of the fortress shows the history of Ukrainian fortifications from ancient times to the World War I.
