FILMS

“Breakfast on Pluto”

“Strange boy” Cillian Murphy stars as the much stranger character Patrik “Kitten” Braden in a movie by Irish director Neil Jordan whose most famous work to day is “Interview with the Vampire.” In “Breakfast in Pluto” he continues exploring the topic of wild human nature only in this case in a much lighter and more pleasant form. Patrik Braden – a foster child who grew up in a small town in Ireland, realizes his transvestite aspirations in the swinging 60’s of London and encounters all kinds of adventures with such grace and style, that it’s hardly possible to take your eyes off him, even if you don’t approve of transvestites in general.

Various cinemas.

Movie in German: “Die Fetten Jahre Sind Vorbei” (The Educators)

“The Educators” whose original German name is translated as “The Rich Years Have Passed” is the story of modern young rebels, who break into the apartments of rich people not to rob them, but to “educate” them though rearranging the furniture and leaving obscure messages. Of the three young actors featured in the movie, the only familiar face is Daniel Bruhl – the star of the nostalgic comedy “Goodbye Lenin,” which was equally highly critically acclaimed, but failed to impress me. Now let’s see if “The Educators” will.

Zhovten (26 Konstantynivska, 425-8909).
