It seems like we have this Taras Grygorovych Shevchenko Drama Theatre in every town and city… A couple of these establishments are a bit more remarkable than the others and it’s them that I’m going to tell you about.
1. National Academic Ivan Franko Dramatic Theatre
Situated in Kyiv it’s one of the two most popular classic theatres. With famous Bohdan Stupka in its cast beautifully playing classics. This one is Ukrainian-speaking.
2. National Academic Lesya Ukrayinka Russian Drama Theatre
The second classic theatre in Kyiv. Russian Drama does not at all mean they are paying only Russian Drama – all the best classics in Russian language. Also a great cast of actors.
3. Kyiv Academic Molodyy Teatr (Young Theatre)
By its name the theatre is obliged to the great Les Kurbas who founded it in 20th years of the 20th century. They are playing Ukrainian and World classics along with contemporary plays like Andrukhovych’s “Moskoviada”.
