When having read some of the previous posts, already in love with Ukraine and planning Ukrainian vacations you’ll need an advice. Here’s a piece of mine.
1. Budget.

That’s the easiest. You should be able to calculate your daily budget in advance. When choosing a spot, mind that your average catering expenses will be about the same as an average price for the night in the hotel or higher.

For beach Ukrainian vacations go to Crimea, to spend a quiet vacation in the open air you can pick Carpathian region, one of the numerous lakes in Odessa, Volyn, Tshernigiv or Carpathian region, some nice spot in Polissya. For a romantic escape choose Lviv, you’ll also have a chance to visit a number of castles around. To be close to people, cars, shops, clubs – go to Kyiv, Kharkiv, Donetsk, Dnipropetrovsk or Odesa. To regenerate energy choose a SPA to your liking, those are all over the country.
3. Transport.

There are three main options: a car, budget public transport and an airplane. Choosing a car beware that the roads are not always perfect, GPS navigation is reliable enough if you do not go too deep into the country. Travelling by inexpensive Ukrainian public transport like trains, buses, marshrutkas (a sort of small bus) is not always as comfortable as you expect, English is not widely spoken and you can easily get mislead. An airplane is the best option to travel long distances safely and quickly.
