When coming to Carpathians apart from all the beauty surrounding you there’s always something else to explore. Hospitality – yes, it’s a national trait. Traditional wooden architecture – of course, you won’t be able to ignore, it’s all around. No McDs for miles and miles around will make you look for food, and here is when you will discover real diversity. Here’s what I insist that you do do try:
1. Banosh

a traditional corn porridge served with different garnish beginning from brynza, another must-try, passing through mushrooms and ending with all sorts of meat. Would be a great food for my 6months-old princess if she were not so fond of mummy’s milk, home-made yoghurt and chicken bones!
2. Brynza
the most popular sort of cheese, prepared from the goat milk, having quite a specific salty taste and somewhat resembling the Greek Fetaki. Also known as budz or wurda, brynza is often used as a stuffing for pies, meat dishes, soups, potatoes etc.
3. Hrybna Yushka

a delicious soup with mushrooms as a base element. Light, yet nourishing, it makes a great starter to a real Carpathian meal. My personal favorite!
